Check if pockets or closures interrupt the front yoke area. Ask a tailor before changing seams that define the upper shape.
Locate the slit in photographs showing the front and back. Check whether the lining has a corresponding opening underneath.
Check any dress guidelines for the occasion instead of relying on a length label such as mini, midi, or maxi. Consider whether tights or leggings will be part of the outfit, as they may influence your preferred amount of coverage.
Gender-Inclusive Dress Consultant: Pamela Fields
A comfortable first fitting builds trust. Moves between helping clients compare dress silhouettes and building occasion outfits around individual preferences, depending on where a project needs attention. Completed a diploma in fashion styling, then learned the day-to-day work in a small clothing business. The past 22 years have centered on dresses and skirts rather than a broad clothing range. Keeps dated notes so the next person can see what changed and why.
Metal fittings remain visible in a monochrome outfit. Take a full-length view before adding another accessory.
Handle chiffon slowly around fastenings and bag straps. Free a caught section by supporting the surrounding fabric instead of pulling the dress away. Keep the dress clear of rough shelf edges. A smooth garment cover protects the outer layer from contact. Follow the care label for cleaning rather than treating all chiffon alike.
Stretch in mesh does not establish stretch at its seams. Assess movement at the firmest seam.
