The original Sweet Georgia Brown Hair Dressing Pomade was developed and manufactured in 1934 by the Valmor Products Company in Chicago. After the death of its founder in 1984, the brand, including the original formula, was sold to RH Cosmetics of New York. From 1985 to 1999, Sweet Georgia Brown was produced by RH Cosmetics and achieved millions of sales worldwide. After years of absence, the brand was taken over and returned in 2006. In the course of this, there were some innovations. The original Sweet Georgia Brown in the red can was joined by two new pomades; the solid pomade in the blue can and the water-based pomade in the purple can. In order to meet the needs of modern customers and to offer them variety, the design was modernised and the original fragrance level was toned down. In the following years, purple was discontinued, followed by blue and finally, Sweet Georgia Brown red was quietly discontinued with the last production taking place in 2016. The all new Sweet Georgia Brown Beauty Products Company took over worldwide distribution of Sweet Georgia Brown in 2023 and decided to continue production of Sweet Georgia Brown red and also bring back Sweet Georgia Brown blue. However, both were to be based on the original formula, rather than the 2006 version, in terms of brand, design, fragrance and consistency. Now produced by Lockhart's, Sweet Georgia Brown has gone back to its roots, and we couldn't be more happy about it
